Converting a disbeliever… #1

Volume #1
Picking a Model and Ordering

After working on PC computers for the last 12 years I have recently purchased on of the new MacBook Pro’s. I wanted to experience what it was like to work on one of those “other” computers. After much hesitation I decided I would give it ago and decide to swap out my PC laptop for a portable Mac. After watching the market after the December holiday season and listening to the suggestions of others I decided to wait until the MacBook Pro (MBP) was readily available before making the switch as I wanted to begin my work on one of the new Intel Mac “InteliMac.”

So I eagerly browsed the online store to determine exactly what model I would be purchasing. One think I new for certain was that I wanted to have 1GB of ram and make sure that it was fast enough to last me 3 – 5 years down the road. After taking into account the cost difference between the 1.82ghz and 2.0ghz MBP I decided I would not need the faster processor as the primary functions initially would be internet and word processing. I would later on choose to add programs for web development such as Adobe CS and Dreamweaver to the mix (reason I wanted 1 GB of ram). So now that I found out what model I was going to order next thing to do was to see what the best price was for what I would be getting. I reviewed site after site and found some coupons online, but mostly only for Amazon.com or directing me to some Ebay auction. After looking into it I decided to order through Apple.com as I would be eligible for the educators discount as I work for a University. So I placed my order on Friday morning and eagerly awaited its arrival.
