Amazon Confirms Nintendo Wii Strap Recall

Email from Amazon.com sent 12/18

Nintendo (previous Digg post) may be denying the recall, but the email below confirms that they are sending out new replacement straps and their is a recall.

Hello from Amazon.com.

We have recently learned that Nintendo of America is voluntarily
recalling the Wrist Straps used with Controllers for the Nintendo Wii
Video Game System you recently ordered. If consumers swing the
hand-held "Wii Remote" game controllers using excessive force and
accidentally let go, the cord connecting the controller to the wrist
strap can break, potentially causing the controller to strike
bystanders or objects. You may find additional details about the
recall in the CPSC bulletin at:

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07061.html.

Nintendo is offering to replace the original version of the wrist
straps for the Wii remote with a newer version, free of charge. For
more information, contact Nintendo toll-free at (800) 859-4519 between
6 a.m. and 7 p.m. PT, or visit their Web site at
www.support.nintendo.com.

If you purchased this item as a gift for someone, please let the
recipient know about this issue as soon as possible, and provide them
with the information to contact Nintendo for a replacement wrist
strap.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
